Production of organic acid from lignocellulosic materials by Rhizopus sp.

Abstract  The bioconversion of lignocellulosic materials for organic acid had great meaning to both economic and social benefit, owning to its renewable character, abundance and low price. This article extensively reviewed the xylose metabolic pathway of Rhizopus sp., discussed kinds of fermentation strategies to product organic acid(such as lactic acid, fumaric acid) from lignocellulosic, and pointed out the key to product organic acid from lignocellulosic was the efficient utilization of xylose.
