Abstract Cre/loxP system is a recombinase system which origins from bacteriophage P1.It has become an important tool for genetically modified bioengineering because it is time-specific, tissue- specific，site-specific and efficient recombination.In this paper, the recombinant characteristics of the Cre/loxP system, the compositions and structure of cre recombinase，recombination mechanism and application in yeast, is reviewed.
