Abstract Taking the database of national intellectual property as the statistic source, the statistics of the patent document about biomedical technological study were analysed, that offering the general development trend of biomedical patent in Jiangsu, its regional distribution, IPC technical composition and prolific institutions of patent. Meanwhile, based on the patent portfolio in the technical field, comparative analysis has been made with representative regions and provinces in China like Beijing, Shandong and Shanghai as well as the USA. Finally, the focus is on the application and regional distribution of biomedical enterprises in Jiangsu, that provides Jiangsu and other provinces with patent references for working out more appropriate strategies in terms of technological development.
